Level 4 Diploma: Data Analyst

All six units are mandatory and total 120 credits.

This programme has no optional modules.

Typical age: 18 and above.

The usual entry profile includes one of the following:

• Two or more GCE Advanced Level subjects supported by five or more GCSEs at grade C/4 or above
• A related Level 3 qualification such as an ATHE Level 3 Diploma
• An Access to Higher Education Certificate delivered by an approved further education institution and validated by an Access Validating Agency
• An equivalent international qualification

Recommended English proficiency is IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, Cambridge English Advanced 162 or above, Pearson PTE Academic 42–49, or an approved equivalent.

The course is delivered over 10 months. The six units range from 10 credits/30 guided learning hours to 30 credits/120 guided learning hours and are delivered in sequence. Smaller units normally use shorter teaching blocks; larger units allow additional time for consolidation and assessment preparation.

The 120-credit qualification represents approximately 1,200 hours of learning: approximately 510 guided learning hours and 690 hours of independent study, research, portfolio development and assessment preparation.

Part-time attendance for 2.5 days a week through hybrid delivery. Flexible enrolment dates are available.

Learners receive approximately 15 contact hours a week during active teaching weeks and should allow approximately 20–25 hours a week for independent study and assessment preparation, depending on the course stage and deadlines.

Students are assessed throughout the programme using formative and summative assessment. Summative assessment consists of reports and coursework requiring theoretical understanding and practical application in realistic data-analysis contexts.

Evidence may include written reports, coursework, applied practical tasks, data-based activities and portfolio work. Formative preparation includes quizzes, workshops, case studies, class activities, tutor questioning, guided exercises, draft reviews and feedback sessions.

Successful learners can progress into data-related employment, further technical study or higher-level professional development in data analytics and the wider digital sector.
